The Road Trip

With one knee surgery behind me and down with sick time, I wanted to go to Florida more this year than before. Carroll would go for 2 weeks but no longer than that. I was going for a month. By the time you drive down and get rested up, it time to come home. I wanted to go for a month. So I rented a place for the month of Feb. Carroll said he wouldn't go...........I sure was going to miss him. Aunt Lucy usually goes with us and she felt up to it. My cousin Sue retired in March and went to Alaska for a couple of months. We have been taking quilt classes together. She ask Ron if he cared if she went with us. He said no and wonder how long we would be gone. So we packed up our bags, sewing machines(that's the important stuff) and filled the trunk of the Buick full. At Carroll input, I left my sewing machine home. Sue and I would share. What a wonderful time we had. Our trailer was very nice. Those Florida rooms make great sewing rooms. I fished with Jack when it wasn't cold. We went to the flea markets, played bingo, went on a quilt shop hop and bought more material. We visited with our cousins and listened to stories about my dad and them growing up. My dad was a ornery little bugger! We sewed on quilts and helped Tonya make a quilt for her new grand baby that is arriving in July. Sue help Marian on a quilt that she was working on. Bought more material all the time teasing Aunt Lucy about riding on top of the car like granny clampett. Jack and Marian took us to Tampa to fish off the pier. Jack caught a Mackerel and hooked a dolphin. Sue caught a couple of small fish and I caught zip! I want to go back there again. Joyce, Shirley, Sue, Aunt Lucy and I went to Blue Springs to see the Manatees. We stopped at pier 19 and ate fish and shrimp. MMMMM good. Now I have decided that a month is not long enough......Carroll ain't goin to like this! Maybe 2 months will be better. We head to Louisanna at the end of the month. I wanted to see my southern girls. We met Angie at the Mississippi border. She was returning home from seeing Ryan. We messed around Doulphin Island while waiting for her to come thru Mobile. It is a beautiful place but that cold front kept Sue and I from laying on the beach! Burrrr They are rebuilding a lot of the homes there. We got to the visitors center and 3 little faces were looking at the window. This was the best part of the trip....to get big hugs from 3 little girls. We stayed at Angie's till Thursday and went to Keri'house. We left there on Friday and got home just before noon on Saturday. My Tatum was here waiting for her Grandma to get home. She missed me as much as I missed her. She called me 4 or 5 times while I was in Florida. One time she said that she thought it was time I got my butt home. She missed me! Oh, what a wonderful world!
