Boy am I Bad!
I'm really bad about blogging.
We had a great weekend with our reunion. Lots of people couldn't make it this year but hopefully we will see them next year. The Jackson kids and Uncle Lon's kids were missing this year. I'm so worried about the Jackson's girl down there in the middle of a freakin hurricane. I want to take Keri a generator so she will have some kind of power. It will be 4 weeks till they get electricity. That sucks! I know when we were without electricity 4 or 5 days in the ice storm, we still had hot water. All the kids came and took showers here which was a Godsend. Lisa and Jeff send their Kerosene Heater over so it wasn't too bad. Toots basement got flooded. Buck burn up a generator I think. So we are pretty lucky here. Just Tornadoes and Floods.
Back to the reunion--- I will post some pictures.

Knee Surgery
Well, It has been 6 weeks today that I had my knee repaired. I have one more week of therapy and they will turn me loose. Waaa Hooo. I woke up while I was in surgery and they were hammering the new knee in to place. I didn"t feel anything because they did a epidural. I told Dr Di that When I get hot and I kick the covers off my legs, I cool off. I couldn't kick nothing. So they turned a fan on me and we talked till they finished and took me to Recovery Room. I was up walking the next day. I used the walker not quite a week and a cane about 2 weeks. I'm truckin pretty good. The secret is do those exercises more than they say. I hope I don't have to have the other knee done. But my knee sure feels better.

Grandparents Day with Sid
Tuesday was grandparents day at Sids school. He invited Omi, Grandpa Carroll and me to lunch. He was waiting at the door for us and took us down to the lunch line. Gosh, I had forgotten what that was like. Sid told us what to do, where to get out milk and dessert. We sat with his friend and his mom. We had chicken and noodles, green beans, jello, bread and butter and milk of your choice. I said the noodle were very good. Sid let me know they weren't as good as mine. Bless that boy. His friend wanted to know which was his mom's mom and which one was his dad's mom. Then he kinda stumbled to explain Grandpa Carroll. That was cute. Sid said he usually takes his lunch. He doesn't like what they have. I said I aways like school lunches. Besides my mom worked at Hewitt school lunch room and so did Omi. Omi was going to give a talk about living in Germany as a child durning the war. I would have like to hear her story. Well, thank you Sid for lunch, Granps and I enjoyed it.

Pictures of our party
The kids had a great party for us at the GlennEarl Wine Cellars in Owaneco. Eighty nine of our friends and family came out to help us celebrate. Buck cooked up some BBQ, cheesy potatoes and cowboy beans. Kenny Eggiman from Fisher's Meat brought in a wonderful cheese tray. Tim, Art and Jill Bolhen are to be thanked for their fine hospitality. My cousin Sue Lehr bake a beautiful Anniversary Cake using the same colors as my wedding cake she made 25 years ago. Carroll and I have had a grand adventure these 25 years combining two families and raising 5 teenagers. No one said it would be easy. We have 10 wonderful grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter. Tatum asked me what I thought about being a great grand mother. I knew I would be a grand mother but it never entered my mine about great grand children.
Here are a few things most don't know about us.
Carroll ask me 3 times to marry him. His first wife and I were homeroom mothers for Teresa and David. I have a picture of Terry chasing Lisa around the Christmas tree at Memorial School with her Halo on. She died in December of 1980 and I got divorced in May of 1980. Carroll and Connie got married June 27, 1965 the same day that Terry and I did. Terry and I got married at 2:00 P.M. and Carroll and Connie got married at 4:00 P.M.. We lived in apartments across the alley from each other. But we didn't know each other.
Carroll worked with my Dad at the paper mill. Carroll asked me out with Duane prodding him on Christmas eve.
Our first date was on New Years eve and I had to work at the Lake Club and he didn't care. I gave him my dad's address and Carroll swears I told him East Franklin instead of West. I didn't want him to know where I lived yet. Teresa got her driver license the day we got married. Buck was in a literacy contest in Strasbourg and won the completion. Who ever thought this would work! What a adventure!

Welcome to Great Grandma Retta'a World
Maddie was born January 11, 2008 at 10:05 A.M. She weight 8 lb 2 oz and was 21 inches long. She has the most beautiful head of red hair I ever saw. She will be coming home on Sunday. Maybe 2008 has a bit of promise in the air.
This is what makes my world go around. Holding her today brought back lots of memories of all my babies. I never dreamed of being a great grandmother. I can only remember my ggmother Casey and my Grandparent Lockarts. My grandchildren are so lucky that they still have all of theirs. What a wonderful world after all.

Happy Birthday
I can't believe your are 41 years old. I don't have any baby pictures of you. You have cleaned me out. But you were the most beautiful baby in the world. Your Dad said you looked like one of the Beatles with all that hair. You made your appearance on January 4, at 10:48 A.M. Aunt Jeannie, Grandma Abel, Mom and Dad were on hand. You were the first grandchild on my side of the family. Mira beat you out by being the New Years Baby. In the old family album you have, there are pictures of your Dad taking you out in the stroller everyday when he got home from work rain or snow. Of course in January it was snow. Your grandparents were about to string him up but you were never sick. You were a happy baby with all those aunts doting on you. Aunt Jeannie would come by everyday , she was going to Inhalation therapy School at Memorial Hospita . Uncle Rick and Aunt Linda were in Viet Nam. Jeannie spoiled you alot. You were walking by the time you were a year old. You started talking early than that. You Dad had the Mobil Station by the time you were 4 months old. Every one came in and talked to you. You were selling tires for your dad. No wonder you are a go getter, you been working forever.
You were our first experience as parents. I don't know why they didn't give us a manual. We made plenty of mistakes just as our parents did. We had a lot of love for you. You were our joy, hope for the future, and still are. You have developed into a beautiful girl, woman, mother and friend. And I love you with all my heart. Mom
