Al called yesterday after he finished working at Fishers Meats and wanted to do something with me. So Carroll and I stopped at his house and picked him up on our way from getting groceries. We ate lunch and messed around in the garage and He found one of
Grampa Charlie's fishing poles. So now he is the owner of the old unique pole. He promised me he would keep it safe. He was
oohing over some other fishing stuff I had. National Treasures! I have enough fishing poles for Cox's army, but some are my very favorite. I hope I remember to give some to my favorite great nephews this summer when they come. Big Al went home with some treasures like his dad's and Uncle Travis frog gig that is
wrapped in black electrical tape. The frog gig came in mighty handy one evening when we had a big rat in the old garage. I was working on crafts one night while Carroll bowled and
Trav was with his friends. I went out to the garage to
get something out of my craft box when something hit me in the chest.
EEK all I seen was it's tail. I came in the house and was done for the night.
Trav came home and wanted to know what was wrong . I told him about the giant rat that hit me in the chest. He
laughed his butt off and said "sure mom". He and Steve got a paper plate and smeared Peanut Butter on it and took it to the garage. He took Steve home and came back and sure enough there were big teeth marks in it.
Well the next night there was
Trav, Steve and Carroll out in the Garage armed with shovel, baseball bat and the trusty frog gig and me on a stool. We were on a rat hunt! They were moving boxes around and
Trav seen the rat. He (the rat) had chewed up his MR T doll that Grandma Helen had made him with
jewelry and all. The Rat didn't have a chance. Frog gigs aren't only for frogs.
Back to Alex, we got Aunt Lucy and went fishing at Ramsey State Park. Aunt Lucy was making pickles. No problem! She said they would wait for her. We caught about 30 or 40 bluegills but we cleaned 8 or 10 for Aunt Lucy. We had a wonderful time. We got home about 6 PM. I sure enjoyed the day. I got up early this morning to make brownies for Alex and his buddies at the Locker plant. Now I got to go finish my applesauce that I'm canning.
